It may seem strange to discuss happiness in the midst of the current global epidemic but I think it is more important to feel happy at this moment than ever before. It's really difficult to say exactly what happiness is. Although researchers have tried to define happiness in different ways at different times. Happiness is completely a matter of feeling that can't be grasped, can't be touched, can only be felt. Happiness is the state of mind or emotion that is controlled by love, contentment, joy or excitement. It has become a rare thing in the present  mechanical age.

1. Factors that are related to happiness:

Happiness is a relative matter. It varies from person to person. No one can be happy despite owning a lot of money. Again some may be happy to earn a little money. I can say from experience that happiness actually come very little one. And to be happy, you need to know how to control your needs. Research shows that happiness is a matter of personal control.

Acronym PERMA summarizes five issues related to happiness:

  • Positive emotion: A person with a positive attitude has hope, interest, joy, love, compassion, pride, amusements and gratitude. Through this he can be happy very easily.
  • Engagement: The concept of engagement is something much more than simply "being happy", but happiness is one of the many byproducts of engagement.
  • Positive Relationships: By maintaining a good relationship with partners, family members, friends, colleagues, office bosses/mentors/supervisors and their community at large, can come immense happiness.
  • Meaning: Having meaning or purpose in life is very important for everyone. Meaning may be pursued a profession, a social or political cause a creative endeavor or a religious/spiritual belief. It may be found in a career or through extracurricular, volunteer or community activities.
  • Accomplishments : Accomplishments is setting a specific goal and striving diligently to achieve that goal and if the goal is gained then it is possible to possess boundless happiness.

Every year the United Nations  publishes its Global Happiness Survey revealing  the happiest countries in the world. The  Happiest Countries in world are selected based on the following factors:

  • Gross domestic product per capita: The market value of the quantity of goods and services produced in a country at a given time is called Gross domestic product per capita.
  • Social support: Social support means having good relationship with other people including friends and family members. Social support improves  quality of life and provides a defense against adverse life events.
  • Healthy life expectancy: When the people of a country are entitled to good health, their average life expectancy also increases and this is called healthy life expectancy. In this way the list of happiest countries is determined.
  • Freedom to make your own life choices: If a person is given the opportunity of freedom, he can do every thing as he pleases. And through this he can feel deep happiness.
  • Generosity of the general population: If the rate of generosity among the people of a country is  high, then that country is considered as a happy country. Because generous people always put themselves in the service of others which increases their self-satisfaction.
  • Perception of internal and external corruption levels: A corruption person can never be happy. Therefore, in a country where the amount of corruption is low,  the people of that country are considered  happy.

3. The effect of happiness in our lives:

Who doesn't want to be happy, but can everyone be happy? If I want to make myself happy, I must first know myself. Socrates says "know thyself." I mean the thought of who I am, what I have, where I am, what I am doing makes me happy or unhappy. If I have faith in myself and think that this is happiness, then happiness will come to me. The first and foremost condition for being happy is to make others happy, to have the mentality of giving up, to accept sacrifice. There are some people who think it is possible to be happy if you are rich. But research has shown that the happiness that comes with money is temporary, not long lasting. Happiness depends largely on how well a person can control his emotion.

Robert Holden says, "you the key to happiness." From this statement it's understood that happiness is a matter of complete self-control. It has no specific moto or key or formula, through which it can be achieved. Happiness comes into our lives from time to time. However, some of the key to happiness is discussed below:
